Hengsteler - Fashion

The appearance of Balingen branch of gentlemen´s outfitter Hengsteler Moden has become even more striking since September 2010. According to the slogan of "stylish since 1954", the three-week conversion turned the specialised store into a traditionally-modern shopping paradise for men.

The design concept inspired by the period of promoterism creates a unique, individual atmosphere. Original accessories from the early decades of the 20th century convey the charisma and dynamics of the euphoric mood of industrialisation. A glass plate turns several antique Singer sewing machine frames into a presentation table, and an old Ulmia workbench is used to present the current Armani, Closed or Joop! jeans collections. The gap between history and modern days is also bridged by traditionally-straight design elements like presentation tables, wall cabinets and boards in a brown-black, creating an ambience that fits both high-class business and casual wear.

The rooms' design combines function and looks while remaining authentic: Sliding ladders made of black steel are placed in front of the presentation cabinets, reminiscent of library ladders and enabling access to goods stored on the upper shelves. Fine Sarough and Bidjar Persian carpets protect the real-wood parquet as well as completing the rooms´ vintage looks.

The high-quality materials mirror the quality of the products sold as well. The polished and walnut-stained parquet perfectly complements the colour composition of warm browns, dark and light greys and black. Loving details like wardrobe hooks made of enamelled cast iron or a searchlight illuminating the Hengsteler company logo give the room a unique appearance.

A lighting concept made up of track lights, gimbal-mounted and doubly-gimballed recessed luminaires creates a harmonious lighting ambience while ensuring best goods presentation. Special highlights are provided by the extraordinary cast-iron and punched-part wall lights. All power sockets and switches are made of bakelit, while the door fittings are hand-wrought iron. Pendulum lamps with ceramic fittings and individual textile cables direct all looks to the goods presented.
