The Axento-Center, a combined office and retail complex, was built in 2009. The latest subsidiary of Luxembourg optics company Optimol resides in this building. Heikaus gave it a rather extraordinary design. The composition is as effective as it is daring. Dark browns, beiges and petrols make for a stylish look.
The re-designed glass-façade welcomes guests even from afar. Daylight can enter the rooms through it, increasing the inviting, open character. A special highlight is the exposed concrete-look cube, which was set up as a reception desk and refraction. As an unobtrusive but effective wall decoration, vine motifs create a very special flair.
Inside, a surprising mixture of materials makes for an elegant and stylish lounge ambience. The display wall is completely covered in dark, embossed leather and has a lighted key visual to draw all looks. As a connection element, it also serves as a transition between the lower and upper store level. The two areas are separated by three steps, emphasising the different product groups visually:
The upper area offers sunglasses, contact lenses and care product; the lower part has corrective glasses.
The different levels are emphasised by a petrol coloured seat along the stairs, leading the visitor subtly into the store interior. The felt-covered stools in crème and petrol, and small tables made of coloured glass create spacious lounge islands on both store levels.
Ball-shaped hanging lamps in different heights create balanced illumination connecting the two levels. The lower level has the consultation zone with its u-shaped white consultation desk and petrol chairs with chromed steel cross foot.
Grey-brown tiles in the upper store area are the base for a white glass showcase. On the window-side, they are enclosed by a wall covered in dark beige flower decoration. As a display case, the show case holds unusual glasses. Inviting stools covered in brown leather are taking up the lounge theme again. They are placed in front of the exposed-concrete cube and effectively prevent a "cash point atmosphere" from forming.
The whole store's atmosphere is harmonious, an effect that is supported by the reduced colour selection remaining within one colour group: grey-brown tiles, dark-brown leather, beige carpets. Various blues in the seats and at the back of the counter supplement this perfectly and create an outstanding effect in the room. A very few pointedly used colour accents in white freshen up the design.
The comprehensive range of sun and corrective glasses is presented perfectly on presentation areas lit from the back and below. Rotatable, ceiling-height glass-floor displays in crème enable flexible presentation of corrective glasses.
A sophisticated light architecture completes the harmonious whole. Eye-catching elements like the ball-shaped LED pendulum lamps and light fibre wall decorations are used as well as the traditional recessed spotlights "Stella I" and "Stella II", made by Heikaus-owned brand PRL (Professional Retail Light).
