Extravagant shoes in new spaces

Since Sigrun Woehr opened the first shoe store in Pforzheim in 1983, five other stores have been added to date, in Karlsruhe, Heilbronn and Stuttgart. Each business operates self-sufficiently. There is no centralised warehouse or a uniform store design! Each store is designed separately.

The remodelled branch in Karlsruhe features a sales area of about 100 square metres. The store construction concept speaks clearly. The focus is to be on the product. The existing plasterboard ceiling was retained. The ceiling and walls stayed white. Merely individual walls, furniture at the centre of the room and the register are highlighted in colour, painted lettering on the walls provide accents. A light grey epoxy resin was selected for the flooring. The intense lighting of the product is crucial. This was achieved through the use of HCl based discharged lamps. The spotlights are recessed in the ceiling. One highlight was composed with a chandelier integrated in a plexi-tube.

The shelves are formed like a continuous "band" and also vertically interconnected. The product carriers are made of laminated boards. The use of forms is highly geometric and gives new interpretation to the existing edges.
